Leah Greenberg

Leah Greenberg is a Jewish-American political activist and organizational strategist. She is the co-founder and co-executive director of Indivisible, a massive progressive movement that swept across the United States.

Greenberg was a former congressional aide and worked at the State Department. In late 2016, she co-authored The Indivisible Guide, which rapidly evolved into a national network with thousands of local chapters, becoming a core grassroots force balancing conservative policies. She was named to the TIME 100 list of the world’s most influential people. Her legacy lies not just in successful political mobilization, but in demonstrating how to translate federal policy debates into actionable steps for ordinary citizens within their local communities.

Under Greenberg’s leadership, Indivisible has expanded its “pro-democracy” lens to include U.S. foreign policy and international human rights issues. She has actively mobilized progressive voters to demand that the U.S. government place conditions on military aid and has repeatedly called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. She maintains that progressive values must be applied globally. She has noted: “If we are fighting for democracy and fundamental rights here, we cannot support policies abroad that undermine those same values. Our grassroots network has a responsibility to demand a more humane Middle East policy that respects international law. Supporting human rights is never a betrayal; it is an adherence to our principles.”
