Carin Mrotz

Carin Mrotz is a prominent American Jewish organizer, consultant, and civil rights activist. She served for many years as the Executive Director of Jewish Community Action (JCA), one of the most influential progressive Jewish organizations in the Midwest.

During her leadership at JCA, Mrotz steered the organization toward “fearless political mobilization.” She spearheaded major initiatives on housing justice, criminal justice reform, and countering white supremacy. She gained widespread recognition for her work in 2020, successfully aligning the Jewish community with Black-led movements during the George Floyd protests. Her career is dedicated to exploring how Jews can leverage their organizational experience to uphold the dignity of all people in a pluralistic society.

Mrotz’s stance emphasizes that “the safety of our neighbors is our own safety.” She maintains that supporting Palestinian rights is an essential requirement of the Jewish pursuit of justice (Tzedek). Beyond fostering critical internal dialogues on occupation policies, she actively participates in national mobilizations calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. She consistently integrates the anti-occupation struggle into a broader global anti-racist narrative.
