Ofra Ben Artzi is a prominent Israeli peace activist. Hailing from the powerful Ben Artzi family—she is the sister-in-law of current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu—her decision to publicly oppose the state’s policies is seen as a potent symbol of moral awakening within Israel.
While she holds no formal political titles, her role as a “dissident” within the Netanyahu family gives her rhetoric immense impact and penetration. She has long supported and participated in the activities of grassroots organizations such as Anarchists Against the Wall and Combatants for Peace. Through her actions, she demonstrates to the Israeli public that justice and conscience can take root even within the most conservative and central families of power.
She frequently travels to Palestinian villages in the West Bank to protest the construction of the separation wall and the expansion of settlements alongside local residents. She has publicly criticized Netanyahu’s policies as leading Israel toward moral ruin. Between 2023 and 2026, despite immense pressure from within her family and right-wing media, she continued to appear in protest crowds opposing the war in Gaza.
