Ilana Glazer is a highly influential American comedian, writer, and producer. Raised in a Reform Jewish family on Long Island, New York, she credits her cultural background and education with shaping her comedic perspective and political engagement.
Glazer co-created and starred in the Comedy Central series “Broad City” (2014–2019), which received multiple Primetime Emmy nominations. Her work in television and film includes starring roles in the series “The Afterparty” and the horror feature “False Positive” (2021), which she co-wrote. In 2018, she co-founded Generator Collective, a political advocacy platform that uses short-form video content to explain government policy and facilitate civic participation among younger voters.
Glazer has used her public platform to address Middle Eastern politics and advocate for Palestinian human rights, publicly opposing Israeli state policies and military operations. In 2024, following controversy surrounding director Jonathan Glazer’s Oscar acceptance speech, she joined over 150 Jewish creative professionals in signing an open letter supporting his anti-occupation statements and criticizing institutional pressure against performers speaking out on Gaza.
Glazer is one of the signatories of the 2025 public statement, “Global Jewish Call on the UN and World Leaders to Sanction Israel,” which called for international sanctions, arms embargoes, and legal measures to enforce compliance with international law in the Occupied Territories.
