Leo Reich

Leo Reich is one of the most prominent rising stars in the British comedy and screenwriting scene, born in 1998 in London to a Jewish family. As an openly queer artist, he frequently uses self-deprecation and deconstruction in his work to explore his Jewish identity, Gen Z nihilism, and sexuality. A graduate of Cambridge University and a former member of the legendary Footlights, Reich has become a quintessential figure in London’s contemporary queer culture and comedy, recognized for his unique stage persona that blends dramatic aesthetics with sharp, satirical storytelling.

In terms of professional success, Reich has rapidly transitioned from live stages to international mainstream media. In 2022, his solo show Literally Who Cares?! debuted at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, earning a nomination for Best Newcomer, and was later adapted into a global HBO comedy special. By 2025, he secured a major role in Lena Dunham’s Netflix series Too Much and was commissioned by Channel 4 to create, write, and star in his own semi-autobiographical series, It Gets Worse. Named one of the “Faces of the Future” for 2026 by Jewish News, he has solidified his position as a leading voice in British popular culture.

Echoing his artistic mission is his steadfast political engagement, as Reich has consistently used his platform as a Jewish artist to advocate for Palestinian rights. He is a signatory of the “Film Workers for Palestine” pledge and was among the 150+ Jewish creatives who publicly signed a letter supporting director Jonathan Glazer’s Oscar speech condemning the occupation. In social media posts and open letters, Reich has frequently spoken out against the “weaponization” of Jewish identity to justify military actions. In one collective statement, he rejected the “false choice between Jewish safety and Palestinian freedom,” poignantly asserting: “We refute our Jewishness being hijacked by an occupation that has led to conflict for so many innocent people.
