Hannah Einbinder

Hannah Einbinder is an outstanding American comedian, actress, and writer, born in 1995 in Los Angeles. She is the daughter of writer Chad Einbinder and original Saturday Night Live cast member Laraine Newman. Einbinder began her career in stand-up comedy and was one of the youngest comedians to perform a set on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Einbinder gained widespread recognition for her co-starring role as Ava Daniels, a young comedy writer, in the Max comedy-drama series Hacks. Her performance earned multiple nominations for Emmy, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, culminating in a win for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards in 2025. In 2024, she released her debut stand-up comedy special, Everything Must Go.

As an openly bisexual and Jewish artist, Einbinder frequently incorporates observational comedy, identity, and political critique into her stand-up sets and public advocacy. She is an active supporter of Palestinian human rights and a vocal opponent of the military campaign in Gaza. Einbinder is associated with the Artists4Ceasefire initiative, wearing the symbolic red lapel pin at high-profile entertainment industry events, including the Golden Globe and Emmy award ceremonies, to demand an immediate ceasefire and humanitarian aid access. She has also signed industry open letters opposing weapons transfers and cultural normalization with institutions complicit in military governance.

Einbinder has consistently emphasized the necessity of speaking out against military violence, stating: “There is a greater toll in not speaking and you’ve just got to have your priorities straight. I am under no impression that my small career could ever measure up in comparison to even one human life. It’s an obligation and I will always do it.” Backstage at industry events, she has reiterated her belief that Jewish religion and culture must be distinguished from the actions of the State of Israel. At the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, while accepting her award on stage, she concluded her speech by exclaiming: “Go Birds! F*k ICE! Free Palestine!”

In September 2026, Einbinder engaged in direct civil disobedience alongside actor Susan Sarandon and over 100 activists during a Jewish Voice for Peace demonstration outside the United Nations headquarters in New York. Protesting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to the UN General Assembly, she was arrested by New York police while participating in a street sit-in calling for an end to U.S. arms supplies to Israel.
