Sam Weinstein

Sam Weinstein is an American-born, UK-based trade unionist, anti-war activist, and member of the Jewish anti-Zionist movement. Raised in a working-class Jewish family with radical political roots, he spent his early working life as a gas fitter before becoming a full-time union organizer within the UK labor sector.

Weinstein spent decades organizing for energy workers in the UK. He is also a founding member of Payday, an international network of male trade unionists and activists working in coalition with the Global Women’s Strike to campaign for wages for caring work, military budget reallocation, and labor rights.

Politically active in Jewish anti-Zionist organizations, Weinstein is a long-standing member of the International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network (IJAN) and a signatory and supporter of Jewish Voice for Labour (JVL) and Free Speech on Israel. He regularly contributes opinion pieces and letters to left-wing publications, including the Morning Star, addressing the weaponization of antisemitism allegations in the Labour Party and defending the right to criticize Israeli state policies.

Rejecting the assertion that the Israeli state represents international Jewry, Weinstein frequently speaks at anti-war and anti-privatization rallies in London. Outlining the core principle of his anti-Zionist organizing, he stated in an interview for the International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network: “Israel does not speak for us as Jews.“
