Ariel Feldman

Ariel Feldman is an active Argentine Jewish journalist, critic, philosopher and political activist. He is one of the most sharp-witted writers in the contemporary Argentine progressive Jewish circles, specializing in deconstructing “establishment narratives.”

Feldman is a long-standing contributor to Jacobin Revista and a core member of the Argentine Jewish Call (Llamamiento). His critical essays often focus on the nexus of power, identity, and media manipulation. Beyond international politics, he delves into the power dynamics within Argentina’s own Jewish community, advocating for a “decentralized” Jewish identity rooted in the Latin American experience.

Feldman starkly opposes the “weaponization” of Jewish identity. He views the conflation of criticizing Israel with antisemitism as a form of logical hegemony. He has insightfully noted: “The events in Gaza are a simple and brutal demonstration of a daily reality in any society: that some lives are worth more than others. ……But when, in a conflict involving collective identities, the lack of value of a certain type of existence is justified by a position of power, we are on the verge of, or have already crossed, the threshold of, genocide.” Throughout the Gaza crisis, he has consistently written to demand an immediate ceasefire and a lasting peace based on equal rights.
