David B.A. Epstein

Prof. David B.A. Epstein is a world-renowned Jewish mathematician and Emeritus Professor at the University of Warwick. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS).

Prof. Epstein is an authority in low-dimensional topology, hyperbolic geometry, and group theory. His work has been foundational to modern geometry, particularly his pioneering contributions at the intersection of computational group theory and geometry. He founded the journal Geometry & Topology and is a staunch advocate for transparency and collaboration within the mathematical community.

As a titan in academia, Prof. Epstein has long advocated for the educational rights of Palestinians. He is a supporter of BRICUP and has signed numerous open letters demanding reflection on the complicity of Israeli academic institutions in the occupation. He also signed the open letter “Mathematicians Against the Genocide in Gaza,” which was signed by more than 1,000 mathematicians.
