David Cannon

David Cannon is a prominent UK-based Jewish activist and current Co-chair of the Jewish Network for Palestine (JNP). A long-time figure in British left-wing politics, he is a dedicated organizer challenging mainstream narratives and defending Palestinian rights.

In his leadership at JNP, Cannon focuses on establishing a platform within the UK Jewish community that explicitly supports Palestinian self-determination. A member of Jewish Voice for Labour (JVL), he is actively involved in public debates regarding the definition of antisemitism. His work centers on dismantling the political logic that conflates criticism of Israel with antisemitism, promoting a fair dialogue based on international law and human rights. He excels at mobilizing diverse progressive forces to advocate for Palestine in the UK Parliament and various civil society forums.

Cannon argues that Israeli policy is inherently “settler-colonial” and supports the BDS movement as a means of non-violent resistance. He maintains that Jewish liberation must not be built upon Palestinian suffering. He has stated: “As British Jews, we have a responsibility to reject an apartheid system that claims to speak in our name. True peace can only be built on justice and equal rights for all.” He actively pushes the UK government to recognize Palestinian rights and is frequently seen on the front lines of protests against the occupation.
