Dr. Jessica Manson is a distinguished British Jewish Consultant Physician, researcher, and immunology specialist. She serves as a Consultant Rheumatologist at University College London Hospital (UCLH) and is an Honorary Associate Professor at University College London (UCL).
She leads the multidisciplinary haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) service at UCLH, managing complex patients across the UK. She is the co-founder and co-chair of HiHASC (The Hyperinflammation and HLH Across Speciality Collaboration), a group committed to improving outcomes for patients with hyperinflammation. Dr. Manson and her team won the British Society for Rheumatology (BSR) Best Practice and Patient Choice Awards in 2024. She also runs the rheumatology-led ultrasound service and an early inflammatory arthritis clinic. Her research includes imaging-based projects and investigating the role of anti-drug antibodies in treatment failure. Her authoritative research on cytokine storms during COVID-19, published in The Lancet, provided vital scientific evidence for treating critically ill patients worldwide.
As a supporter of Jewish Voice for Labour (JVL), she defends freedom of speech within the Jewish community and opposes the weaponized labeling of criticism of Israel as antisemitism. Regarding the collapse of the Gaza healthcare system, she has repeatedly co-signed calls to protect hospitals, asserting that blocking medical supplies and attacking facilities are crimes against both medical ethics and international law.
