Jessica Nevo is an Israeli-Argentine sociologist, transitional justice researcher, feminist activist, and human rights advocate working across Israel, Argentina, and the United Kingdom. As an independent scholar specializing in alternative justice models and grassroots truth commissions, she has long functioned as a senior academic and training consultant for various human rights organizations. Nevo’s research and civic practice center on political trauma recovery, victims’ rights in sexual violence contexts, and the application of transitional justice mechanisms within the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Possessing a dual Argentine and Israeli background, Nevo completed her comprehensive academic training in sociology, gender studies, and transitional justice at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and European research institutions.
Throughout her career, Nevo has focused on the post-dictatorship “Truth and Reconciliation” models implemented across Latin America, particularly Argentina’s framework for tracking forced disappearances. She adapted this empirical framework to Middle Eastern studies, exploring the feasibility of establishing grassroots “civilian truth commissions” independent of state censorship to document systemic oppression and institutional violence in the Palestinian territories. Her fieldwork includes leading international sociological projects investigating the intersection of state violence and gender-based trauma in conflict zones.
After the October 2023, Jessica Nevo not only published articles expressing her views, but also served as a member of the Testimony Project Team of the “Bearing Witness Gaza” project to support the civilians in Gaza.
