He is the editor of the volume Mind, Reason, and Being-in-the-World: The McDowell-Dreyfus Debate (Routledge) and has co-convened the Post-Kantian European Philosophy Seminar at Oxford. His papers have appeared in journals such as Philosophical Studies, Philosophical Topics, and the European Journal of Philosophy.
Schear has co-signed public statements concerning academic freedom and Middle Eastern politics, including “An Open Letter from Concerned Jewish Faculty at the University of Oxford.” He was also a signatory to the petition “Response to October 7,” which stated: “End the violent oppression of the Palestinian people. Apartheid, the West Bank’s decades-long Occupation, keeping Gaza’s two million Palestinians under siege for 16 years, erasing the memory of the Nakba, now all contribute to the brutalization and violence. They must be urgently brought to an end. There is no other way out.“
