Mar A. Rodda (full name Martina Astrid Rodda) is a Classicist, Assistant Professor in Greek and Latin Language Teaching at the University of Cambridge, and a Fellow of Robinson College. Previously, they held academic appointments at the University of Oxford, including teaching roles at Regent’s Park College and University College, as well as serving as the Leventis Early Career Fellow in Ancient Greek at Merton College.
Rodda’s research focuses on Roman-era Greek literature, formulaic structures in early Greek poetry, and the application of quantitative computational linguistics to classical philology. Their work also examines representations of physical disability, gender, and sexuality in ancient texts. Their papers have been published in journals such as TAPA, Journal of Greek Linguistics, and Bulletin of the Institute of Classical Studies.
Following the events of October 2023, Rodda co-signed several public statements with Oxford colleagues and independent Jewish scholars concerning student activism and academic freedom, including “On the Oxford Action for Palestine Solidarity Encampment” and “Jewish Faculty and Staff Urge Oxford University to Drop Disciplinary Action against Student Protesters.“
