Naomi Wimborne-Idrissi

Naomi Wimborne-Idrissi is a veteran British Jewish activist, journalist, and political organizer. She is a co-founder of Jewish Voice for Labour (JVL) and formerly served as its Media Officer.

Before becoming a full-time activist, Wimborne-Idrissi had a distinguished career in journalism, serving for many years as a reporter for Reuters. This professional background has equipped her with the ability to deconstruct complex political narratives and communicate core messages with precision. She is not only an elite communicator but also an organizer who understands the inner workings of institutional systems. In 2022, she made history by becoming the first Jewish activist elected to the Labour Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) on an explicitly pro-Palestine platform, despite the political turbulence surrounding her tenure.

She is one of the most powerful voices challenging the conflation of anti-Zionism with antisemitism. On major outlets like the BBC and Sky News, she argues that this conflation erodes the right of Jews to define their own identities.

Following her election to the Labour NEC, she insisted on raising Palestinian human rights at the highest decision-making levels. Her subsequent expulsion from the party became a landmark case in the UK regarding the narrowing space for political dissent.

Throughout the recent crises, she has served as a primary spokesperson for JVL in nationwide ceasefire mobilizations. She focuses on building bridges between Jewish and Muslim communities, emphasizing their shared interests in opposing occupation and racism.

She tours trade union conferences and university campuses to explain why supporting Palestine is a continuation of the anti-colonial and internationalist tradition, asserting that Jewish identity must not be hijacked by state nationalism.
