Vivienne Porzsolt is a veteran Australian Jewish human rights activist whose parents were refugees from the Nazis. She is the spokesperson for Jews Against Occupation (JAO) in Australia and a leading figure in the country’s Jewish left-wing movement.
Porzsolt is known for her courageous field activism. She participated in the 2011 “Welcome to Palestine” flytilla, attempting to non-violently challenge Israeli control over Palestinian movement. Despite being detained and deported, she remains a staunch advocate for the BDS movement within Australia.
She said: “Despite the horrors of these dark times, I believe the Palestinian struggle is at a tipping point and the Zionist project is collapsing from internal and external pressures and and is doomed. We need to keep on with our solidarity work till the people of Palestine, both Palestinian and Jewish, are free.”
